Book Dedication for Catch a Falling Star:
In memory of Ian Lyons, who taught me about courageous faith.
June 23, 1995-April 27, 2009
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an external glory that far outweighs them all.”
(2 Corinthians 4:16-17 NIV)
On Tuesday, I shared some of Ian Lyon’s story with you — and why Catch a Falling Star is dedicated to Ian. Several people asked for a little more of Ian’s story. Today I wanted to share how Ian taught me about courage.

Wow, I’m so glad you took us further in Ian’s story, and that you drew from him in CAFS, which is why Ian there comes through w/ so much heart. Thanks again, Beth. Sales for Kleenex have just increased, but so has my depth of heart.
What strenght. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

I had several people ask for more of Ian’s story … and I wanted to able to share how he taught me about courageous faith.
“There’s a difference between grief and despair.” Wow, thanks for this encouraging video. I needed to be reminded of these things today. Thanks for sharing this story, Beth.
Teryn, me too – “There’s a difference between grief and despair.” Renee, I will carry this with me.
Hi Beth! I’m so glad you shared this. I’m with you. I’m not sure praying for courage would be the first words from my lips. Ian taught me about courageous faith through this video. Thank you, Beth and Renee, for sharing this story of Ian and his faith in God. Oh, to have the faith of a child! Isn’t that what God instructed us to do, to come to Him like little children? I’m thankful that Ian could be an example of that kind of faith.
Blessings and hugs!
Andrea
Emotional and powerful post. Enlightened by the difference in grief and despair … she expressed it beautifully.
