Do you have any unpacking to do?
I know, I know. It’s Monday. You probably have a slew of things to do and unpacking a box wasn’t anywhere on the list. Besides, you’re not even certain where you stuck that box labeled “DREAMS.”
Or maybe you do.
Maybe it’s sitting right there . . . and you’re thinking: Do I? Dare I?
I love the last line in Erma Bombeck’s quote — the honesty of it. Pulling our dreams out of the box and putting them on the line — pursuing them — takes guts. Courage.
Monday … Forget the laundry. Forget the dusting. Forget the count-your-calories-eat-your-vegetables-floss-your-teeth kind of living. It’s a great day to be courageous and unpack a dream or two.
In Your Words: What dream have you packed away in a box? What one thing could you do to pursue your dream today? How could you encourage someone else to pull their box marked “DREAMS” down off the shelf, pull the tape off of it, and release a dream or two?
It’s time for a little celebrating of my upcoming release of Catch a Falling Star (May 7, 2013). I’m hosting a Rafflecopter giveaway for the next four weeks — giving away four (4) Advance Reader Copies (ARCs) of Catch a Falling Star!

Beth, this is a wonderful way to begin a week. Thanks! And I appreciate the boost with the thought that I am courageous (that feels nice to think of) for letting my writing out of the box. However, what I find is that I’ve been trying to stuff some other dreams (like home remodeling) into this one box and these dreams–as much as I’m trying to shove these hopes in) they just don’t fit and I’ve been feeling unsettled. Now I realize why: I’m not ready to surrender them.
Have you ever thought about becoming a psychiatrist? 🙂

Elaine:
I am so thankful you were encouraged — and thank you for sharing your insight with the rest of us!
Psychiatrist? Nope. Friend? Yes!
Thanks, Beth.
In the fabulous Baz Luhrmann film, ‘Strictly Ballroom’, there is a phrase that rings loud and true, like Big Ben on Red Bull, “a life lived in fear, is a life half lived”.
Regret is a weight that cannot be shed, like the proverbial albatross around one’s neck. I spent too much time pondering writing, but now I’m in with both feet. So, after I putter around on my favourite blogs and websites, off I go to MS land.
As my beloved MIL says “just do it”. Nike stole that from her, she’s been saying it for about 65 years, to each of her kids, grand kids and great grand kids.
If a deaf, 86 year old Polish immigrant can look back and say “God led me, I followed, nothing stopped me, and I am content”, then what excuse does anyone else have?

Oh, I love that, Jennifer: “God led me, I followed, nothing stopped me, and I am content.”
(Psssst. BETH! May 7th is my 50th. Coughhintcough)
Ooooh, another May baby! Mine’s in May too. 🙂

Pssssssssst…yup!
Going to be thinking about this as my dreams seem to be taking on unique shapes.

If I know you, Wendy, you’re going to pursue and embrace those dreams, no matter what their shape.
Today/tomorrow is finally submit proposals on 2 books to 3 publishing houses. That feels pretty much like unpacking the box w/ fingers crossed & prayers said.

Agreed, Dee, agreed!
Beautiful post, Beth! Today is too busy to pull out another dream, but I think I’ll build on one I’m striving toward. 🙂

You are definitely going after your dream, Jeanne!
I think possibly one dream I’ve packed away in a box is learning to fly a plane. I got to do it once at the newspaper…and checked into taking more lessons. Cost kept me from it, but maybe someday.
I love the idea of encouraging others to unpack their dreams! Going to be thinking about that…

Now you’ve got me thinking: What other dream would I like to pursue … any boxes packed away that I’ve forgotten about?
I appreciate the challenge, Beth.

One thing I know, Kim: you are not afraid of a challenge.
Me!! Me!! Waving my hand. I want to win an advance copy!!
I’m like Jeanne. Think I’ll work on the dream I already have unpacked…some days it’s hard not to want to give back the advance and tell ’em I can’t write the 2nd book. 🙂
Author
I believe in you, Pat. You absolutely can write that second book!
Love this! One dream of mine is to take up the violin. I’ve played several instruments during my lifetime, but always wanted to play the violin. It’s never too late. I just might do it this year.

I love this, Loree. Thanks for sharing your dream!
After sharing your journey with us here with gobs of faithfulness and even more vulnerability, I can tell you one thing: You, my Friend, have NOT left your dreams packed in a box! And how very blessed we are because of it. I’m beyond thrilled for you and your upcoming release! EEEEEKKK!!!

Donna … your comment put a huge smile on my face at the end of the day. Thank you for always encouraging me.
Boxes unpacked. Still moving contents about, searching for appropriate placement. 😉
