I’ve always said summer is my favorite season of the year, but I may be changing my mind. So many of my friends declare autumn is their favorite time of year—and there certainly are quite an assortment of quotes about this time of year. Here are a few new ones I discovered.

Spring has sprung
to summer heat,
and autumn flung
leaves at the feet
of the winter slowly waking
like the grizzly in his den,
soon to be of frost partaking,
clothing trees in ice-shroud Zen,
while beneath the stone-white ground
sleep they all, bright flower, weed,
waiting for the water-sound
that will bring the freshly seed
to smiling greet the sun and rain,
and the dance begins again.
