“There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction.” ~ Winston Churchill (1874-1965), British statesman
So I’m mixing things up here at the blog again.
In months past, I’ve blogged Monday through Friday.
For a while, I scaled back to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Then I ramped it back up again to five days a week.
And now … well, I’ve decided to settle into a nice three days a week pace.
Why?
It just seems to work better for me.
This blog is still about quotes because I love how what others say makes me pause and think. And I especially appreciate it when y’all join the conversation. (Talking to myself — yeah, not too much fun.)
Because I am an inspirational romance writer, I’m considering dedicating Wednesdays to quotes that have to do with romance or writing … or some combination thereof.
And, as I’ve said before, I’d love for you to submit favorite quotes — or email me at beth@bethvogt.com if you’d like to be a guest blogger here at In Others’ Words.
In Your Words: Has anything prompted you to change up your routine? How did you go about making the decision to change direction?

I don’t know where I’d begin! Yes, so much in life has prompted me to change my direction–usually a feeling of what I’m doing doesn’t work –unhappiness etc. So I start writing down options and consider the validity of each and then pray pray. That’s for the big things
Sounds like you know how to evaluate: Write down options and then pray, pray.
I’m adhd, so changing my schedule is not a problem. lol
One thing I’ve learned: there are only 24 hours in a day and a person can only do so much. That mean sometimes my schedule needs rearranging, things dropped or put off for another day. If I try to do it all, I just get frustrated.
Yes, Pat, only 24 hours in a day. And I’m learning how to not push too much into those 24 hours. Still learning.
Good call. Three times a week is plenty w/ all you have going on, and quality beats quanity every time. My schedule change? Managing and stretching time for farm-life start-up projects in the midst of everything else going on here, but finding it important and satisfying.
Your farm — such a unexpected but blessing-filled change.
This season of mothering is all about switching up routine and changing schedules! As soon as I think our family has hit a nice rhythm, someone stops taking naps, someone stops eating supper, someone starts walking, someone starts potty training, and on and on! 🙂 More recently, I had to adjust my schedule and life to add in writing and blogging time. I think I’ve finally figured out how to put it all together – for now.
Flexibility — that’s the key to all seasons of life.
If I’m too rigid — I see stress fractures.
Pun intended.
😉
Sometimes we need to cut back, or ramp it up. It’s your season…you know best.
Looking forward to these Wednesday posts the most!
Thanks, Loree! If you have any quote suggestions, send away!
Because of my personality, I hate change, but I’ve seen it’s necessary. God likes to stretch me. 🙂
I’m not always the best about change … but I’m learning.
Recently I decided to take on a challenge that bordered on the impossible. Backed up against a few other achieved deadlines, I decided yesterday that adding that to my plate didn’t make sense. I scaled back and wow the peace that flowed in! Sometimes a change of direction is just what we need.
Nice to know I’m not the only one who had to say no (or “whoa”) to some things.
Change, by itself isn’t hard for me but making the RIGHT changes is. That one needs to happen on my knees.
Good decision Beth on the routine change. I look forward to the changes.
Jodi
I like to walk and pray things out, Jodi.
Yep, definitely helps.
One of the biggest changes for our family lately has come from listening to Pastor Francis Chan. The way he presents the Truth has made us COMPLETELY change how we’ve been living our lives. Although it’s been one of the most difficult changes we’ve done, it’s also been one of the most rewarding: to fully live for God.
