It’s the middle of November, which means I’m thinking of Thanksgiving … and then Christmas … and then the New Year is is fast approaching.
Are you feeling breathless yet?
This is the time of year I often look forward and backward at the same time. I consider what I wanted to accomplish during the past year — did my dreams come true? — even as new dreams lure me into the months ahead.
I want to slow down and savor the here and now … these moments, these memories-in-the-making. But there’s no denying that dreams are calling me into tomorrow. I’ve been chasing these dreams-coming-true for months now and achieving them means more running. More laps around the virtual track, so to speak. I’ve accomplished some things … and there’s more to do. As a writing friend and I like to say: Living the dream means doing the work.
We’re moving into what can become the busiest season of the year, where the holidays can so easily become the “holidaze.” The challenge? Looking back and enjoying the dreams that came true, accepting the ones that didn’t, and discovering new dreams for the coming year — all the while not overlooking the joys of the here and now.
In Your Words: What dream have you been chasing this year? Has it come true … or are you still logging miles in pursuit of it? Don’t give up! Keep dreaming!

This year my One Word was, “blessed,” and I surely have been: I’ve come the closest ever to publication. I’m still not quite there, but I can finally see some improvement in my writing. And the reason lies in the company I keep: accountability partners, craft partners, critique partners. To paraphrase a political sound bite, “It takes a village to raise a writer” and to write a book, for that matter.”
I’m still not quite “there,” but I’m getting closer and that has been such a blessing this year.
My dream this year has been to have my own place again, praying and refining how, when, and where that would be. Amazingly things have come together and today I sign the papers long distance but should be on my way in 2 more weeks–thankful.

You inspire me for how you continue to pursue dreams, too.

I loved this post, Beth. I was thinking this morning (and last night, if you’ve read my blog post) about how I’m looking back and looking forward at this place in the year as well. I’m trying to remember to breathe in deep now since the coming 6 weeks promise to be BUSY breath-stealing days.
As for my dream, I’m still in pursuit. Praying. And seeking God’s leading as I continue to move forward. Everyone’s dreams come true on the time frame God’s orchestrated for each life.
