Oh, the days I’ve wished away.
If I had the chance to count up all the hours … the minutes … the seconds … they’d probably spill over the edges of my cupped hands like the sands inside an hourglass.
Gone.
But I’ve enjoyed my days too. Savored the sweetness of times woven through with laughter and yes, even tears wiped away by the gentle touch of a loved one.
Was it one of those “Where on earth did the days go?” kind of weeks for you?
Did you spend Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday just waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting for today?
What did you miss?
Or were you able to be in each minute … And how do you manage that?
In Your Words: Look back over your shoulder: What did you enjoy the most about this week? I’d love to hear about it. Join the conversation! While we’re talking today, I’m enjoying my time up in Estes Park, CO, which is one of my favorite places to be. I’m with my husband and youngest daughter (and our 2 dogs, of course). And I’ve got my camera and a workbook to sketch out the plot of my next novel. I’ll return next week with some new photos and a better idea of where this story is going!

I enjoyed a bunch of little things this week–Hubby coming up behind me while I was doing dishes and hugging me, my son making dinner, giggling with my Little Darlings, chatting online with friends, sharing long distance laughter with my other son.
I’m guilty of wishing days away, but I love your reminder to find the joy in the present. I’ll keep that in mind as I look at the calendar.
I have to remind myself to not wish away today.
Love the glimpse of your moments, Lisa!
My birthday was this week. I took the day off from work and spent the special day with my husband and dog.
Happy (belated) birthday, Teresa!
🙂
I enjoyed snuggling with my littlest yesterday. Her big brother and sister had friends spending the night, and I got to cuddle in bed watching a movie with her. Love those moments:)
Those moments are priceless, Susan.
Beautifully worded. You have more than a touch of poetry in you. Before I take trips I research the area, consider, plan, anticipate, and count down the time. I savor the reality minute by minute, and then look back w/ few regrets knowing I’ve made the most of it. I’ve had to juggle lots of things this week which has made consistent writing hard. This week I most enjoyed the 2 youngest grandchildren arriving last night and twining their arms around my neck, one of them being concerned that I sported a bandaid because I’d knicked a finger. We’ll have fun today, and may your writing prosper, too.
I had a God experience this week that has rendered me speechless. The Lord has overwhelmed me with His love. I’ll talk to you about it when you return.
🙂
I’m home on Sunday.
Yea! I’m so glad you’re enjoying Estes Park. It must be beautiful right now. Have you seen the elk yet? If so, you must get a picture and share. 🙂
One of the highlights of my week was going on my youngest’s field trip. It was a beautiful day, and the kids were so fun to hang out with. I think the best thing was his hand slipping into and staying in mine as we walked with his class.
I savored a bit of hand-holding and walking myself yesterday afternoon, Jeanne. (And yes, we’ve seen lots of elk! Photos to come.)
After I worked a job for a few years that started every week the same, wishing for Friday, I vowed to never live that way again. This post is a good reminder. Enjoy family, fotos and fun in Estes Park!
Bit of wisdom there, Kim.
🙂
The best part of this week? Hmmm. I’ve had an awesome week…one of waiting and good news and my kiln firing correctly and opening it to find Christmas instead of Halloween…and finding the perfect set of pumpkins. It’s funny how even the smallest things can lift our moods.
I so agree we need to be enjoying the journey. Not always the easiest thing to do!
Finding Christmas instead of Halloween … love that, Pat. I have the lovely handmade angel, compliments of your talent, standing on my desk — a reminder of your friendship (and talent.
I had lunch with a friend whom I enjoy very much but don’t get to see very often! This is someone whose point of view is fresh and whose wisdom I value so it was fun to get her take on things.
I hope you’re having a blast, Beth.
I had a number of little joys this week: talking with my critique partner, talking with our college daughter on Skype, finding some great items for Gwynly’s Christmas stocking, stopping by the park to swing. . .
What did I enjoy this week? Oh simple : admiring the beautiful fall colors (in the trees!)
*Sigh*
Hoping you’re having a nice trip, Beth. 🙂
