In Others’ Words: Snow

“I used to stare up at the sky trying to see where the snowflakes were born. I could do it for hours. Well, minutes. But it was always the waiting that was the most fun.” ~Author unknown, from a package of Starbucks coffee, 2010

The longer I’ve lived in Colorado, the more I’ve come to love snow.

I love what snow does to the world — dressing it up in white while quieting everything down.

Snow falling is a soft “Hush” to the world.

In Your Words: Are you a snow person or not? Any favorite snow memories or fun, must-do snow activities? I’m not a skier or snow boarder, although my son, daughter-in-love and son-in-love all enjoy snowboarding. I’m more a “Look it’s snowing, let’s have hot chocolate” kind of gal.

    1. Sarah,
In CO, it is the season for snow … LOL.
Would love to do hot chocolate with you. I will bring the marshmallows. 🙂

  1. Like Sarah, I like snow in its season–n0t in June, like we sometimes get. 🙂 I loved watching the snow we had the other day. If I’m dressed for it, I like having snow ball fights with my kids, building snow men. I enjoy skiing, but it’s been years, and I’m not sure my knees would like me much if I tried it. 🙂

So, may I join you and Sarah for some hot cocoa and bring a touch of mint to add t our drinks?

  2. I’m in your corner, Beth. Hot chocolate and marshmallows and sit and watch the flakes come down. And here in Mississippi, snow means everything stops…it’s kind of like a vacation day. lol

  3. I like the way snow makes everything look fresh and beautiful. As a kid, I appreciated snow days in Georgia. As an adult, I’m not a huge fan, because I always worked in an industry that required I report to work. Of course, if I wrecked my car, I was totally responsible. In Colorado, I’ve appreciated how the sun can melt most of it and return the transportation system back to normal. A couple of times, I’ve wondered the logic of road clearing efforts as Hubby left for work. He always emails to say he made it.

    1. I like snow most when I don’t have to drive in it.
And if the roads are icy? I don’t drive. Not at all. Nope. Nada. Not going anywhere.

  4. I like looking at snow when it’s freshly fallen and I’m inside a warm house with the power on. When my hubby gets me up the Sierras to go out in the back country on my snowshoes, I can enjoy it as well. But I do not like driving in it.
