Romans 5:2 (The Message) is one of my favorite verses. It reminds me that God isn’t a miser when it comes to his grace — that I have spiritual “breathing space.”
In Your Words: What Scripture verse expanded your relationship with God?
Oh I love, love, love that verse. The wide open spaces part…that always stands out to me in The Message version…he doesn’t lead us into a trapped life…there’s nothing boxed-in or confining about it, really…there’s nothing more freeing than living in His love…
🙂
That’s exactly why I treasure this verse so much, Melissa. For too long I was all about the Law — just tell me what to do and where to stand. All boxed in and confined. And then I began to understand and embrace grace more and more … Aaah — breathing space.
Ohhh, I LOVE that translation! The wide open spaces of God’s grace and glory…..what a great thing to think on when the day is rough. Thanks for sharing my friend.
There are so many verses that have opened the door wider to His goodness and glory, but this is the one I thought of in response to “breathing space”… Psalm 18:19 – He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.
I’ve come here and pondered all day. For me, it always comes down to “They that WAIT upon the Lord, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up on wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint”.
Given that there are days I can barely walk, and I can’t remember the last time I ran, this verse carries me home time and time again.

I’ve always said the New American Standard is my favorite version of the Bible, but I love how The Message expands my understanding of the Word.
Love this!

His grace and love are such a comfort.

“He will not let your foot slip” (Psalm 121:3) – the verse that got my family and me in and out of the Grand Canyon.
