When we moved to Colorado, our friend, Tony hugged me and my husband and said, “I’m going with people who are going with God — and you two are going with God.”
At the time, Tony was more excited about our move than I was.
Why?
Because Tony was looking ahead — at where God was leading us.
I was looking at where I was, where I wanted to stay — and I wasn’t ready to imagine what God might have waiting for us in Colorado.
There was no choosing to stay — not with Uncle Sam issuing orders for a move. But that’s not to say God wasn’t in the uprooting of our family.
Life is about motion. Forward. Sometimes backward. Wait, wait, wait. And then moving again, sometimes in slow motion. But no matter where you are going — or where you are waiting to go, or where you are resisting going to — the question always is: Where is God leading you?
God is all about leading people from where they are to where he wants them to be. Think Abraham. Moses. A bunch of fisherman who were called to follow Jesus away from their familiar shores.
To go with God they couldn’t stay where they were. They had to leave … let the familiar go … and move on.
This life of faith is uncomfortable. Unsettling.
But we never travel alone. Remember, it’s all about “going with God.”
In Your Words: When has God asked you to go with him someplace unexpected? What — and who — have you found waiting for you?

Where I am now is certainly unexpected.
Don’t know the ins and outs…I can barely sit upright to type this….I just don’t know.
There should be something more to say, something that makes it make sense, but I do not have that.

Every day for you is a “go with God” day. A day where you face more and overcome more than many of us ever imagine.
Praying for you, friend.
Beth, thank you…and thank you for the prayers. Sorry that my comment was so cryptic, but I’m being bludgeoned here, absolutely shattering.
Oh Beth. How timely this was. We just made the decision last night to drop and GO. For a couple of years we’ve wanted to relocate to be closer to our grandkids. To family. But leave COLORADO? After 30 years?? So we’ve tried to do the logical, practical thing by getting our ducks in a row, and it wasn’t working and there was NO peace. So now we are going to list our house in the next few weeks, sell and move to Texas. God has been leading, we kept saying WAIT, and now that we let go of all those things that were stalling us out, I have peace. Thanks for this post.

Amazing how God speaks to us sometimes, isn’t it?
And yes, you are going with God. Saying goodbye to your life here and taking a leap of faith into what He has waiting for you.
He goes before you and He goes with you.
This hits home for me right now, Beth. My husband just had a career change, leaving my family’s business (he was co-owner in a business my grandfather started) for us to go back into ministry. He’s now working at our church–an all this came out of the blue. Totally God. Turned us on a dime. But yes, when God says go, we go:)
