I love Christmas music! During the month of December, I’m sharing some of my favorite Christmas songs with you. White Christmas — both the song and the movie — is another family favorite. We watch White Christmas every year when we decorate our Christmas tree — and we always drink hot chocolate!

Our traditions are pretty sparse…but still fun.
Movies – “Shrek the Halls”, “The Christmas Box”, and “Christmas with the Kranks”.
Music – Mannheim Steamroller and Luther Vandross. I’m still waiting for the AC/DC Christmas album. Plus and good concerts on PBS.
Fun Stuff – if I’m well enough to walk it, the ABQ botanical garden has a beaut light show through December. This year we’ll hopefully get a change to see “The Desolation of Smaug” as well.

I’ve always wanted to see a live performance of Mannheim Steamroller. Have you ever seen them perform live?
I always loved the song Little Drummer boy, you should check out the Faith Hill version on YouTube. I think she was on Letterman performing.. Love it!

I’m going to do that, Patty. I love Faith Hill.
“I’ll Be Home for Christmas” brings tears. My new tradition is hauling the fake tree that’s decorated year round out of the guest room and putting it in the living room.

That song is always poignant for me too, Scoti. It probably comes from all those years as a military family.
Our family enjoys celebrating Advent and we always sing together each evening. It’s one of the only times of the year I get to hear the lovely voices of my children blending together in harmony instead of silliness. 😉
When I click on the photo above, all it does is enlarge. I don’t get a Rafflecopter form. Is anyone else having the same problem?
Beth, I went to Cara’s blog and entered from there 🙂 Thanks to all the authors for such a great giveaway!

So glad! I will double-check the photo.

Really, Anne? I’ll double-check for you. And I’ll email the link to you.
A few weeks before Christmas we’d gather the kids and cut snowflakes to decorate the front window. This is (still) accompanied by our favorite Christmas cassettes: Johnny Mathis, Bing Crosby, The Carpenters, Perry Como. (We love doing things “old school” around here.) There were always lots of laughs and a good dusting of white cutouts…everywhere.
We started this tradition when our firstborn was two. It was always my favorite night of the season.
Now with all the kids married and out of town, they send their snowflakes home. We may do an exchange this year so we can all decorate enjoy each other’s handiwork once again, but nothing will ever be as great as being together for Snowflake Night.

I absolutely love this, Bernadette. It brought tears to my eyes.
Annnnnd I love to sing Christmas stuff!!
I could sing O Holy Night until July. And then start over.
I ADORE ‘Of the Father’s Love Begotten’. It’s 13th Century, I think.
Anything old and difficult. I love a challenge.
Just do NOT include Silver Bells in any songlist anywhere near me. EVER.

I happen to like Silver Bells …
I’m not sure if it’s in the playlist or not …
I love Silent Night…and O Holy Night. My holiday traditions are to work on our church’s Singing Christmas Tree (don’t mistake work for singing) then to enjoy the performance, knowing I helped.

I would love to see a Singing Christmas Tree performance sometime. They are so impressive.
I love the movie, White Christmas. Forgot about it for a while, but I bought it last year so it’ll be a regular around here for Christmases to come. Our must-watch-every-year movie is The Bishop’s Wife with Cary Grant and David Nivens. My all-time favorite.
