I hang around writers. We’re dreaming all the time. Dreaming up imaginary characters — and how to mess up their imaginary lives so that we can create an imaginary happily ever after for them.
And all the while we’re playing make believe, we’re dreaming dreams for ourselves too. We’re dreaming of agents. And — oh, yeah! — a publishing contract. And seeing our book on bookshelves — both the ones in actual bookstores and virtual ones and the bookshelves in our families’ and friends’ homes.
I know writers aren’t the only ones with dreams — and that dreams come in all sizes and shapes. So today I’m wondering: What are you dreaming about?

It’s been a summer of dream-come-trues for me. Truly. 🙂 And now, I’m dreaming about my next book…hoping it comes to life in a really cool way here in these next couple months of super-productivity.

Beth, what a right-on subject. I so appreciate the healthy perspective of that quote about fretting over time passing with dreams. Today, in addition to not wringing my hands over when that publishing moment will happen for me, I also won’t panic about my house needing a huge makeover.
Your picture surprised me after reading the quote, but it makes sense. Dreams worth achieving are worth spending the time and energy on to accomplish them. My immediate dream is completing my first book–to the best it can be. I have other dreams, but they haven’t been put to words yet.

Right now I’m dreaming of an agent – and for the day I have some semblance of a schedule again 🙂
I’m dreaming of finishing this book, making it shine, and getting an agent.
I’m dreaming of starting a family sometime in the next few years, moving on to that chapter in our lives.
I’m dreaming of quitting my full-time job and writing full time. Working hard now so that may be able to be a reality someday!

Actually, I’m dreaming about a yummy turkey breast with stuffing.
Why?
I’ve got one in the oven, and the house smells incredible. Yum.
Dreaming – where do I begin?
My children, especially the two older kids who are just facing the world on their own, that they would find their ways with only the pitfalls and potholes necessary to grow – because we all know that those pitfalls and potholes do come and we can grow from them…
My husband, that he would be able to face the changing season in his life as the champion that he is, and that I would be fit and equipped and strong enough to be the good woman behind the awesome man.
My own writing career, that it would continue to move in the direction that God determines, and that I would not be blinded by my own opinions or the worlds influences.
That our youngest daughter would grow up to see herself the way God sees her and that she would leave our home equipped to stand firm in a world balancing a shaky foundation.
The list goes on… and these sound more like the prayers of my heart. But then, isn’t that what dreaming for believers is?

I just book a room in a recently remodeled Gold Rush hotel in a town not too far away, and I’m dreaming of going there to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in December.
I’m glad you’re taking a realistic blogging break.
Right now my best and biggest dreams are of my grandchildren being happy, well-grounded, filled w/ faith in Jesus, and doing well in school and life. I have writing dreams but they’ll take 2nd place to the kids’ welfare.
