“My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others.” Bob Hope (1903-2003), British-American comedian and actor

My love of quotes prompted today’s post. I decided to step aside this week and let others step front and center stage. I spent last night gathering some of my favorite Christmas quotes for you to enjoy. Let me know which one(s) you like. Even better, share a favorite holiday quote in the comments and I’ll add it to my collection.

“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” Mother Teresa (1910-1997), founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity

“Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection.” Winston Churchill(1874-1975), British statesman

“Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas.” Peg Bracken (1918-2007), American author

“In your hurry to keep Christmas, you have forgotten Christmas. The truest gift of Christmas is the gift of self.” Richard Paul Evans, (1962-), American author

“Christmas is the day that holds all time together.” Alexander Smith (1829-1867), Scottish poet

  1. My Christmas comes with solitude
    but not without good cheer,
for what can better set the mood
    than pizza and cold beer?
    Pizza with its warming glow,
    and holly-bright red sauce
tells of the day of long ago,
and the beer reminds of frost
that hung on the winter air,
    while pizza-cheese harks sacrifice
    that manger-cow did bear
and she gladly paid the price
in giving humans her fresh milk
that she’d saved for her own ilk.

  2. Nice that all of these quotes are about Time and Love.

    Christmas:
For God sent his SON to spend TIME with us so that THEY could show us how to LOVE.
